Water-soluble paper cones (Shur Purge™) are a cost-effective way to reduce the volume within a pipe that will require purging. The use of paper cones will considerably reduce the amount of purging gas used and the time needed to purge around the weld when compared to purging without a dam.

The prefabricated cones can be placed within the pipe easily and quickly and eliminate the need for time-consuming cutting and preparation. After the weld has been completed the water-soluble paper cones can easily be removed by flushing the pipes with hot or cold water.
